Watch Permanent Midnight from Matthew Hurst on Vimeo. This is short film about friendship and community, as encountered when the power goes out one night. In the absence of electricity, the protagonist discovers another world that he has forgotten in life with the lights out. It is inspired by a true story of my own.

Shot in 8mm Black and White, this is a silent film shot for my Film Production 1 class as a Film Studies undergrad at Webster University.

Watch Modern Marvel: The Emerging Comics Subculture from Matthew Hurst on Vimeo. This documentary explores the wide-ranging interest in illustrated narratives, sometimes called comic books. The various subcultures around comics are explained using interviews by the owner of Star Clipper Comics store, another comics store employee, and a former comic book reader. Subjects discussed with each include superhero comics, graphic novels, manga, comics in film, and webcomics.

This is short documentary video, shot using a miniDV camera. It was submitted for my Video Production 1 class at Webster University, filmed in the spring of 2005.
